After working as legal counsel at several large companies and firms in The Netherlands, Emmely started practicing as an attorney-at-law on Sint Maarten in 2016. She worked for two different law firms before starting her own legal advisory company, Just Em, and teaming up with Tackling Law to expand her litigation practice in 2021. 

During her studies in both The Netherlands (Utrecht University, 2012) and the USA (Charlottesville, University of Virginia School of Law, 2013) Emmely focused mainly on private international law, European civil procedure, international business transactions, dispute settlement and arbitration. 

Since working on Sint Maarten, she has been practicing across the fields of law, including real estate, general corporate, commercial contracts, employment, and property law. She also serves as a compliance officer and aids companies with general corporate housekeeping. 

Emmely describes herself as a lawyer by profession and a musician, dog lover and foodie by hobby.
